Starting at just $40,200, the IS300 comes standard with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, faux-leather upholstery, and an 8-inch infotainment system. Forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist are standard across the entire lineup.
The IS350 F Sport has 19-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, heated and ventilated front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and unique F Sport trim.
Above that, the new IS500 F Sport Performance is a raucous good time in a fairly small package. It gets its own unique 19-inch wheels, quad exhaust tips, an adaptive sport suspension, a sunroof, an 8-inch driver information display, and parking sensors.
The Premium sub trim adds a 17-speaker premium audio system, upgraded LED headlights, a larger 10.3-inch infotainment screen, and integrated navigation. Go for the Launch Edition and you’ll get black and grey imitation suede upholstery, a special Launch Edition interior badge, and Launch Edition-only 19-inch wheels.

Pricing & Availability
The 2022 Lexus IS 500 F SPORT Performance is expected at dealerships later this fall. Lexus says pricing information, exterior, and interior color choices, and other optional features will be announced closer to that time.
It’s also worth noting how the forthcoming IS 500 is the first in what will become a new F SPORT Performance line. That said, it will be exciting to see where Lexus takes this new performance-inspired theme in the next few years.

Engine & Powertrain Specs
Under that raised hood is a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 that cranks out 472 horsepower (7,100 rpm) and 395 lb-ft. of torque (4,800 rpm). The 5.0-liter plant is quite a jump from the top engine in the 2021 Lexus IS lineup, a 3.5-liter V6 with 311 horsepower and 280 lb-ft. of torque. Despite the larger engine, the 2022 Lexus IS 500 F SPORT Performance is only 143 lbs. heavier in terms of curb weight versus the current IS 350 F SPORT with the V6. Lexus lists the weight of the IS 500 F SPORT Performance at 3,891 lbs.
According to Lexus, the zero to 60 time of the IS 500 F Sport Performance is 4.5 seconds. Lexus also estimates the highway fuel economy at 24 mpg.
Attached to the 5.0-liter engine is the same eight-speed automatic found in the current IS 300 and IS 350 RWD. The Sport S and Sport S+ modes enhance performance by changing different vehicle systems accordingly (engine, transmission, steering assist, and damping force). Meanwhile, the Custom Mode offers different combos for the powertrain (Normal, Eco, and Power), chassis (Normal or Sport), and air conditioner (Normal or Eco).
The standard Dynamic Handling Package adds fun goodies like an Adaptive Variable Suspension and a Torsen limited-slip differential. Braking upgrades for the IS 500 F SPORT Performance include additional aerodynamic cooling measures and larger, 14-inch two-piece aluminum front rotors and 12.7-inch rear rotors.

When IS arrived in the US in 2001, it tried to get the Series 3 out of the Series 3, delivering sporty rear-drive dynamics in a compact sedan package with Lexus luxury and reliability. That’s the formula ISIS has followed since then.
After extensive updates for the 2021 model year, expect the sports sedan to remain largely unchanged until 2022 except for the muscular IS500 F Sport Performance model.
Here’s what we know about the car, and what you can expect from the rest of the Lexus IS 2022 lineup.
The top-of-the-line IS500 F Sport Performance model joins the lineup for 2022 and offers a 472 hp 5.0-liter V-8 engine and elements of a more aggressive exterior styling.
The protruding hood, rear diffuser, quad exhaust tips, and smooth trunk lid spoiler are all unique on the IS500.

2022 Lexus IS 350 Engine
You will find plastic-type handles on the hood. The standard 3.5-liter V-6 is hidden under the hood. This engine has been used for many years to drive other Lexus products. The normally aspirated engine produces 306 horsepower and 277 lb-ft. So you will get a lot of torque. The engine’s power source is the automatic transmission of a half-dozen-rate or higher from the earlier IS generation. The 2022 Lexus IS 350 would have a fuel economy of 8-10 mpg. But, I’ve compared the EPA’s estimates for combined miles per gallon.
2022 Lexus IS 350 Engine
The EPA rates the car at 19 MPG in cities, 27 MPG freeway, and 22 MPG mixed. My average mileage was 24.6 miles per gallon, with a combined trip of 366 km. The engine and transmission are well integrated, providing smooth strength and flexibility. Slow throttle suggestion-in allows butter-delicate get-offs. The braking systems have a quick but extended vacation. Although the IS 350 offers driver-selectable push options that can alter the car’s performance in several areas, it is mainly detected inside the throttle’s awareness. There are three modes: Regular, Potential, and Snowfall.
Engines And Transmissions
Lexus starts the IS300 off with a punchy little 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 241-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Those who add AWD will actually get the same motor but with 260-hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. It uses an eight-speed automatic gearbox too.
Bump up to the IS350 and you’ll get a 3.5-liter V6 that churns out 311-hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Like the IS300, it can be had in rear or AWD configurations but unlike the IS300, the IS350 uses a six-speed automatic.
Finally, the IS500 comes with a 472-hp 5.0-liter V8 with 395 lb-ft of torque. Much like the IS300, it uses an eight-speed automatic but in this case, AWD is not available. That’s ok though because the charm of the V8 is that you can have even more fun behind the wheel. All-wheel-drive might nerf that opportunity.

Looking Inside 2022 Lexus IS
Perhaps the first thing buyers will notice about the IS is how much bigger it is inside than they might have guessed. Both the front and rear seats offer plentiful headroom and legroom compared to other cars in the segment. In addition, Lexus has nipped and tucked this interior over the years and it’s a real winner.
Ergonomics plays a large role inside. To that end, you’ll find that most controls are intuitively placed which makes the IS feel just that much more comfortable. Drivers will appreciate the excellent visibility and the direct feedback provided through the wheel and pedals.

Lexus IS 300 AWD 2022
Updates to the redesigned 2022 Lexus IS 300 AWD vehicle last year this work has struck the perfect balance of sportsmanship and sophistication making it the best IS to date.
Building on this success, the 2022 Lexus IS 300 AWD and 350 F SPORT return for 2022 with a new option package that adds additional refinement and comfort to the front-engine rear-wheel-drive sports sedan session.
The all-new Premium package is available on the 2022 Lexus IS 300 AWD and includes some interior and exterior features in this sports sedan.
Meanwhile, the current convenience package includes intermittent rain-sensing windshield wipers and rearview mirrors that have been set in automatic dimming with the Homelink system. 2022 IS 350 F SPORT sedan received a new Memory Package and power rear blinds are available as an available option as well.
2022 IS 300 RWD will have an MSRP range starting at $38,635, while the IS 300 AWD will start at $40,625. The IS 350 F SPORT RWD will start at $43,050, with the AWD model priced at $45,050. The 2022 IS is expected to arrive at dealerships by the end of this fall.
The 2022 Lexus IS 300 AWD engine will be available in both rear- and all-wheel drive options and there are three different powertrain options available depending on the slope.
Equipped with rear-wheel drive, the IS 300 is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine, turbocharged and intercooled. The 2.0-liter engine is updated for 2021, featuring adaptive transmission control that helps determine the most appropriate gear for each driving situation based on driver input to achieve a linear response.
This engine is rated excellent for producing 241 horsepower, the rugged four-cylinder also produces a solid 258 lb-ft of torque in a flat torque range from 1,650 rpm to 4,400 rpm.
The output of this engine is not only powerful but also efficient which is supported by an advanced Intelligent Wide Variable Valve Timing (VVTi-W) system that allows the engine to switch between Otto and Atkinson combustion cycles to maximize efficiency. It is equipped with an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift (SPDS) automatic transmission.
For added traction in cold weather climates the 2022 Lexus IS 300 AWD Sedan is also available with all-wheel drive. The IS 300 AWD is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 260 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
The electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system is designed to help improve traction and grip by automatically varying front-to-rear torque distribution.
On a dry road, the 2022 Lexus IS 300 AWD maintains a 30:70 front-to-rear torque distribution for maximum performance but is capable of delivering as much as 50% power to the front wheels under certain conditions.
For buyers who crave maximum power, there’s the IS 350 in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 311 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of peak torque.
The rear-wheel-drive model uses the same eight-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission found on the IS 300 RWD, while the AWD version sends power via a six-speed automatic transmission.
If you have questions about the performance properties of each vehicle, just look at their 0-60 times, as the IS 350 RWD covers the ground in 5.6 seconds while the IS 350 AWD goes from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds.

2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport
The Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance 2022 revives the dormant IS F formula, bringing V8 power back to the compact luxury Japanese sports sedan for the first time since 2014 and confirming rumors of a new series of V8 (small p) powered performance cars from Lexus.
Very little has surprised us lately, especially in the luxury segment, but if you told us a month ago that we will confirm a V8-powered Lexus IS and a new line of four cylinders for Mercedes-Benz C-Class in the same week, we will call you crazy.
The presence of parent company Toyota in Texas may have influenced Lexus because, after a hiatus of years, the V8-powered IS sedan is back. Correctly. A V8. In the new compact sports sedan. In 2021.
The new sports sedan will pack 472 horsepower, a 5.0-liter V8 with 395 pound-feet of torque, making it the spiritual successor of the discontinued Lexus IS F. For those who keep track of the house, yes, it’s the same as that of the Lexus V8. used elsewhere in recent years.

Lexus didn’t mention the all-wheel-drive model, which might be bad news for those who need a one-size-fits-all solution, but the AWD system offered at IS only adds weight and complexity.
It’s also a bit of a hassle, as it requires a noticeable protrusion into the driver’s side footwell to make room for the necessary drivetrain components. It’s also paired with a decidedly less sophisticated (or snappy) six-speed automatic. With apologies to those who feel the need for extra cogs, we are not bothered by the neglect.
You will notice that Lexus slips the word “Performance” into the name of the new V8-powered car. Lexus calls this the first in a new lineup of fan-oriented models that “will attract passionate driving enthusiasts who desire a higher level of performance than the standard F SPORT model.” While that means the V8 here, Lexus makes no indication that we should read it over to the next Performance (capital P) version. Color us with curiosity – and more than a little zing.
We also don’t know what this means for the future “F” as a Lexus performance brand. The existence of the RC F coupe has long been a rationalization for not reviving the Lexus IS F sedan, so we can’t help but wonder if we should take this as a sign that the couple won’t belong in this world. Our deceased friend, GS F, clearly set a bleak precedent.
2024 Lexus IS Release Date
Recently Lexus launched its 2024 Lexus NX with some minor changes for the 2024 model year. So according to that, it is likely that the next Lexus IS Could be available soon for the 2024 model year. It is expected that the next Lexus IS Could be available in the Fall of 2023 for the 2024 model year.
However, if you don’t have time to wait for the 2023 Lexus IS, then you should order your new 2023 Lexus IS because it is available now to order, and also it is not likely that the next Lexus IS will have any major changes for the 2024 model year. Styling & Design
The hood of the IS 500 F SPORT Performance is raised by nearly two inches versus the standard IS. Similarly, the front and rear bumpers are elongated to give the F SPORT Performance a more muscular stance. The 19-inch, split-10-spoke Enkei alloy wheels further accentuate that muscular stance. According to Lexus, the Enkei alloy wheels are one lbs. lighter in front and two libs. lighter in the rear versus the standard 19-inch F SPORT wheels.
Other exterior updates include the revised lower rear diffuser, black F SPORT spoiler, dark chrome window trim, and unique black badging. The F SPORT Performance badging is carried through to the interior as well. The heated steering wheel, door sill scuff plates, accelerator pedal, brake pedal, and footrest all receive the F SPORT styling treatment.

The world will continue even though the Coronavirus pandemic is currently sweeping the world. Although it is too early to know when life will return to normal, automakers are still preparing future models.
Today, a massive leak has been revealed thanks to AllCarNews on Instagram revealing what Toyota and Lexus have planned until 2024. Some of the following have been rumored but there is at least one new vehicle that we don’t see coming.
First, the next-generation Toyota 86 and its younger brother, the Subaru BRZ. Both are expected to debut in July 2021 and the 86 will be renamed GR86. Power will come from a new turbocharged engine with a reported 255 horsepower.
Of course, the rear-wheel-drive will remain. Furthermore, the Toyota Camry will also receive a mid-life refresh that year, followed by Avalon in 2022. The next-generation Camry won’t be due until 2024.
Also in 2021, we’ll see a new Corolla-based crossover whose name hasn’t been announced yet. One possibility is the Corolla Cross, which has the potential to start production at a joint factory with Toyota-Mazda in Alabama, which is still under construction.
As we previously reported, the Toyota Venza wagon crossover will also return in 2021. In all likelihood, it will share a decent number of parts with the Camry, once again.
Moving on to trucks and SUVs, leaked reports suggest the new Toyota 4Runner and Sequoia will debut for the 2023 model year. Both will share TNGA-F Tundra’s next-generation architecture. Sequoia and Tundra will ditch the 5.7-liter V8 to support the new V6 twin-turbo hybrid. 4Runner will get this machine too.
The redesigned Toyota Tacoma will arrive in 2024, but there are no exact details yet.
As for the Toyota Land Cruiser, it looks set to come in 2022 but unlike the current model, it will be an off-roader without a hint of luxury. In other words, it’s back to basics. Sweet.
As for Lexus, unlike the Land Cruiser, its LX counterpart will take the opposite approach by becoming a rival to the Bentley Bentayga, powered by the same twin-turbo V6. In general, Lexus drops all V8 models for under $ 90,000. The new twin-turbo V8 will power the long-awaited LC-F in 2022.
Also that year, the ES and LS will get a refresh. Surprisingly, the Lexus GS was immediately replaced by an RWD sedan based on the Toyota Mirai.

2022 Lexus IS Tech
Like the 2021 model, 2022 IS should offer two infotainment display options: a standard 8.0-inch unit, and a 10.3-inch increment. Both are touch screens, but can also be controlled by the touchpad on the center console.
Standard connectivity features will likely include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth streaming, and two front-line USB ports. As before, there should be a reconfigurable gauge cluster display that can show the information and layout of the tachometer that changes depending on the driving mode.
Mark Levinson’s 17-speaker premium audio system will likely be offered as an upgrade from the standard setup.
