2022 Nissan Maxima Specs

The specifications section of this test car wearing 19-inches, two-tone wheels, and sparkling Sunset Drift paint. The hue costs $ 395 extra, but it’s one of the best colors in the Nissan palette.

The illumination package ($ 545) adds 20-color interior accent lighting that can be adjusted and exterior ground lighting. The $ 370 rear diffuser completes the exterior, the finishing touch to the sedan’s factory tuner appearance.

Overall, the SR was little chosen because it killed the standard equipment. Nissan determined it with mats, mats and nets, first aid kits, and bag hooks, all for a total of $ 375.

Availability

The 2021 Nissan Maxima is available now. You can pick from seven different exterior colors: Super Black, Brilliant Silver Metallic, Gun Metallic, Deep Blue Pearl, Pearl White TriCoat, Carnelian Red Tintcoat, and Sunset Drift. Also available is the 40th Anniversary Edition’s exclusive two-tone Ruby Slate Gray Pearl with a black roof.

If you like Nissan cars, but don’t need something as big as the Maxima, the 2021 Altima has a modest starting MSRP and an option for all-wheel drive.

2021 Maxima Redesign

To add new features, the company will update the entire interior. We can take a glance at the new Altima and find hints on how will the 2021 Nissan Maxima look. Dimensions of the full-size sedan remain the same. The length will be over 190 inches, but less than 195 in. However, the company will pay more attention to the appearance. Sedans need to be more aggressive, although these are family vehicles. The D Platform still underpins the car, but the revisit will make it capable of taking the hybrid and PHEV systems.

Interior of the Maxima will also suffer several changes. Expect a new dashboard where smart equipment is taking place. The base model will keep an eight-inch touchscreen display as a center of the possible all-new infotainment system.

The sedan is refreshing the trim levels. The entry-level version is S, while SL and SV are coming back as a mid-range offer. Platinum model is the premium edition, and the carmaker could add even more models.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Nissan offers an entirely average protection package. Additional coverage is available at extra cost through dealerships, but the standard periods—a three-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty and a five-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty—should suit most buyers.

  • Limited warranty covers 3 years or 36,000 miles
  • Powertrain warranty covers 5 years or 60,000 miles
  • No complimentary scheduled maintenance

Autonomous Drive

We already got used to the ProPilot system and its features. Nissan was ahead of the competition with driver-aid equipment. However, now it is time for the new step. We doubt that Level 4 is taking place on the 2021 Nissan Maxima, but a high level of autonomous drive is expected. We can already see some serious add-ons on the new Altima sedan.

ProPilot is a Level 2 self-driving system with options to keep a distance from surrounding vehicles and control speed. Also, it offers a lane-keep feature supported by numerous sensors. The carmaker announced that they will launch Level 4 autonomous drive in foreseeable future. Whatsoever, we still don’t know if that is happening in 2021. So far, Nissan ProPilot is offered with Rogue crossover and Altima sedan only.

Nissan Maxima 2022 Suspension

The steering wheel turned out to be very heavy; Nissan opted for the hydroelectric system in the Maxima, and during more aggressive driving, it produced swift changes and felt heavy around the corner.

The wheel itself is wrapped in leather, with the addition of extra leather. As the main point of physical contact of the driver with the car, this is done quite well.

Adjustment of the suspension leaning to the sporty side. Even when the 2022 Nissan Maxima is full of passengers and luggage, it’s still fun to run it across the detour in southern Oregon.

The active suspension damping system keeps the chassis neat in various circumstances. Meanwhile, the brake pedal is sturdy and responsive. The overall package offers an impressive level of ability and old-school charm.

Overview

A full-size sedan doesn’t have to be uninteresting to look at and boring to drive, especially when it’s the 2022 Nissan Maxima. Its sharply styled exterior wraps around a spacious cabin that pushes the idea of mainstream fairly close to the luxury realm. Drivers who like some fun behind the wheel will find it with the Maxima, although expectations should be set well below the sports-car benchmark. Unlike other large sedans such as the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Charger, the Maxima is offered only with a 300-hp V-6 and front-wheel drive. Modern tech conveniences—including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a host of standard driver assists—are present and accounted for. The Maxima is a good choice for anti-SUV drivers who need space for passengers and appreciate the comfort of a large car.

2022 Nissan Maxima Redesign

Nissan Maxima Redesign 2022 There was a time when the Nissan Maxima was referred to as a “four-door sports car” and that’s a pretty accurate description.

Despite using front-wheel drive, the old generation Maximas offers a much more dynamic driving experience than the current eighth generation, which was launched in 2015.

The current 2022 Maxima is nothing like the previous model, much to the disappointment of many.

Additionally, the only Nissan Altima that’s slightly smaller is not only newer but also makes spending more on the Maxima even more difficult to justify.

And like the Ford Taurus, the larger sedans, in general, continued to decline in popularity. The writing is on the wall.

Automotive News claims the 2022 Maxima flagship sedan, which received several new updates last year, is expected to be discontinued shortly.

Although there is no exact date at this time, Nissan intends to launch an all-new all-electric sedan in a style inspired by the IM sports sedan concept in the second half of 2022.

At that time, it didn’t make sense to introduce the ninth-generation Nissan maxima 2022 with a combustion powertrain. Could the 2022 Maxima nameplate be attached to the EV? Maybe but not possible.

Automakers tend to introduce new signage when the so-called “core elements” of vehicles change, such as switching from internal combustion to all-electric.

It’s a fresh start that Nissan is sure to want to take advantage of. Currently, Nissan says the main difference between the Altima and Maxima, which share platforms, is that the first is made for efficiency, and the second is for performance.

But the Maxima isn’t a performance-focused sedan for a while now. Say it like this: a real performance sedan doesn’t come with a CVT, the only gearbox that Maxima has to offer right now.

Meanwhile, the Altima is slated to receive a mid-life upgrade in 2022 as well, but Nissan doesn’t seem to intend to take it off anytime soon.

Plans are reportedly already in progress for the next complete 2022 Nissan maxima redesign by 2026 and are expected to offer an electric variant, most likely a plug-in hybrid arrangement. Nissan maxima 2022, however, only has one or two model years left.

2022 Maxima Platinum

If the idea of buying a full-size sedan sounds a bit boring, consider the Nissan Maxima 2022: It offers style and driving pleasure alongside the traditional benefits of a large traditional car. All models are also front-wheel drive and supported by a 300 hp V-6 engine.

Its use is sharper than expected, but do not confuse maxima with Z-car. Inside, there are plenty of rooms with four adults and desirable features, including touch info teasing with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Nissan also offers driver assistance features as standard, but the most modern seekers of the technology should consider SR and 2022 Maxima Platinum flooring.

Nissan has launched a special new Nissan maximum 2022 40th Anniversary Edition for 2021. The custom print model is based on high-end 2022 Maxima Platinum flooring, but a more aggressive look to celebrate the history of the car’s four-door sports car.

The black exterior is balanced with Ruby Slate Gray Pearl paint. Inside, all 40th Anniversary models come with red semi-aniline leather seats, smoked chrome trim, white indicator surface, and heated rear seats.

Otherwise, the maxima 2022 series is re-focused on SV, SR, and more luxuriously focused S and SL models with 2022 Maxima Platinum flooring gradually out.

What Is A Nissan Maxima Platinum

In our view, 2022 Maxima Platinum flooring is also worth the price increase, as it adds a power-adjustable steering column, rain-sensing windshields, power-powered rear sunscreens, full leather seats with diamond-plated inserts, and wooden interior trim.

If you’re feeling extravagant, go buy an extra $1140 Reserve package and get the best of maxima 2022 with a heated rear seat, charcoal hood, two-tone leather-clad steering wheel, and custom 19-inch wheels.

Maxima is one of the faster full-size sedans, and the v-6 sounds great when the engine pushes hard. The 3.5-liter V-6 produces 300 horsepower and maxima drivers for the intended purpose. The continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT),

However, disrupts the mission of the Maxima sports sedan. In our tests, Maxima Platinum went from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds to outperform competitors such as Kia Cadenza and Buick LaCrosse.

The new Nissan Maxima 2022 will take good care of her size. The suspension is well damped and robust to the point where it can be very hard for its class.

Maxima’s aggressive cornering maneuvers exhibit a stylish small body, and in our tests Maxima, SR easily performs better than its competitors.

Maxima offers recognition of superior crash test results as well as driver assistance features, but the insurance institute is not included in the highway safety (IIHS) Best Safety Choice grade.

Basic driver-assistance features are standard; SR and Platinum models have more advanced technology. Key security features include:

  • Standard automatic emergency braking
  • Standard forward-collision warning
  • Adaptive cruise control is available

2022 Nissan Maxima Interior

In the interior, the full-size Sedan also offers many uses. Nissan maxima 2022 luggage is big enough to hold four portable bags with plenty of space for the fifth, or even the sixth one.

Passengers in our rear seats have plenty of room to lie down during a six-hour trip to Oregon.

The double sunroof is a plus for those who sit in the back; however, the rear armrest cupholder is not large enough to hold two cups of coffee.

Every 2022 Nissan Maxima receives a Safety Shield 360 technology package from Nissan for the 2020 model. In the long journey through the freeway, I like to use adaptive cruise control, letting the car reach out when it comes to traffic control and guarding the lane.

The interior, despite having some good materials, shows its age with large plots of hard plastic. The middle area around the shifters is very cluttered with buttons, buttons, and buttons, leaving less space than ideal for storage.

However, there is a neat cell phone, which is great when the device is plugged into a USB port for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto duty.

The updated 2022 Maxima turned out to be a pleasant surprise as a travel companion. However, from the powertrain to the interior, Nissan’s biggest sedan can use a few more updates to make it fresher.

2021 Nissan Maxima Engines

The 2021 Nissan Maxima will continue to use the most reliable engine in the company’s portfolio. It is a 3.5-liter V6 unit, which we can see on other flagship SUVs – Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60. Compared to its siblings, the sedan gets the most power out of the V6 mill. Drivers can count on 300 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque.

The new car could be lighter, causing a better fuel economy. Currently, Maxima is returning 20/30 mpg for city/highway drive. The Xtronic CVT gearbox is sending power to front wheels, without alternative in AWD. We doubt the company will change that since 2021 Maxima won’t be capable of going off the road. With 5.5 inches of ground clearance, you will want to stay on the asphalt.

Nissan Maxima Competition

The Nissan Maxima doesn’t cruise the market alone as, despite the diminishing availability of sedans in general, there are still a lot of comparable options out there. The Nissan Maxima might sit a little higher in terms of premium appointments, though, so that’s certainly something to keep in mind as we compare it to both the Hyundai Sonata and Honda Accord.

2022 Nissan Maxima Price

When viewed from the previous version of the Nissan 2022 Maxima is available in five trim levels: S, SV, SL, SR, and Platinum. The basic S model starts at $ 35,145. SV midrange and SL respectively starting at $ 37,195 and $ 39,535.

SR and Platinum trim levels above are priced fairly close at $ 42,345 and $ 42,435 respectively. All prices include a mandatory $ 895 destination fee. 2022 Maxima is on sale now.

For $ 44,030 which may be added after the destination fee, the Nissan maxima 2022 SR is filled with equipment and can make it a reliable daily driver.

This is just speculation only because there is not yet official information from Nissan.

The Toyota Avalon and Kia Cadenza are probably the closest competition, and both of these cars are a little fresher than Nissan’s long-running victims. But with tuning the SR trim suspension, it’s still the sportiest of the group.

My passenger found the new Nissan maxima 2022 comfortable and roomy, and I enjoyed a lower center of mass and competent dynamics to comparable SUVs. However, it is time for Nissan to completely overhaul its biggest sedan.

How much is a 2022 Nissan Maxima Platinum

2022 Nissan Maxima Platinum Price The possible price is not much different from the previous variant. There is an increase in the price of the 2022 Nissan Maxima Platinum starting at $ 43,900.

2022 Nissan Maxima SR

2022 Maxima SR Nissan created the schtick attached to the Maxima in 1989. It was marketed and sold in North America as the 4DSC, which stands for “four-door sports car.” There is a 4DSC sticker on the window and all. Whether it lives up to its name is up for debate.

For some historical perspective, MotorWeek’s current review of the car saw it hit 60 mph in 8.2 seconds. The car’s tendency to curl up was significantly lifted more than once.

Neither of them sounds like commendable sports car quality, but regardless, the 4DSC brand is sure to pop up in any Maxima discussion.

One reason is that Nissan continues to use the slogan of a four-door sports car. It’s not around as long as BMW’s “Ultimate Driving Machine,” but it’s an older one at the moment, with more than 30 years of first and latest use. That said, the name Maxima itself is even older.

“Maxima” was first written on the back of the Datsun 810 for the 1981 model year, with the full model name being the Datsun 810 Maxima.

This model was renamed to Datsun Maxima one year later, and then Nissan Maxima after the official Datsun-to-Nissan switch. 2022 Maxima SR second-generation Maxima entered service in 1985, lasting four years. It was the third generation in 1989 that was named 4DSC Maxima.

Throughout the 90s, it saw its greatest success as a 2022 Maxima SR entry midsize sedan, but when the Altima started filling that slot, the Maxima was pushed to the top.

Each generation of this century continues by adopting a slightly different concept from that which came before it.

So that’s 40 years of the Maxima, filtered out, and now there’s a car to celebrate the heights and celebrations of that decade: Nissan Maxima’s 40th Anniversary Edition 2021. It’s a sedan that looks sharp in modern sheet metal.

Sharp enough (and perhaps interesting enough) that the car reveal was one of the most-read Autoblog stories last fall. We’re not entirely sure why. Know that the internet is not always logical.

Seeing the immense interest, we thought we’d better put one of them on board for testing to satisfy all our readers who seem to be thirsty for Maxima. You are welcome.

Nissan Maxima Interior Design

The Nissan Maxima might look pretty stylish outside for a 5-year-old vehicle, but the interior gives you this weird premium vibe that makes it easy to forget that you’re not driving something much more expensive. The higher trim levels are ripe with two-tone leather upholstery, supportive sports seats, and — believe it or not – a flat-bottom steering wheel that’s wrapped in perforated leather. These nicer materials aside, there are still a few things to remind you that you’re not driving a GT-R – like the semi-digital instrument cluster and the not-so-modern infotainment system. Neither are bad, mind you, but they aren’t exactly fitting all that well in 2021. Overall, the Maxima offers a comfortable, spacious cabin, and if you can splurge on the higher trim levels, you’ll have little hints of luxury and maybe even a small taste of GT-R DNA too.

Nissan Maxima Exterior Design

The Nissan Maxima Might be getting a little long in the tooth in terms of generational aging, but the most recent facelift brought its exterior design inline with the newest models in Nissan’s lineup. One could even argue that the front end of the Maxima features a nice blend of sporty and muscular DNA, with the headlights and design of the front fascia being the most intriguing parts of the whole design. Add in the muscular front arches and the chiseled rear haunches, and you have a very attractive vehicle that is going to age well through the rest of its current generation. The 40th Anniversary package as seen on our tester gives the car a darker ambiance that makes the car even more attractive.

2021 Nissan Maxima Hybrid and PHEV Systems

According to numerous sources, the new 2021 Nissan Maxima will get a hybrid system. Well, we expect this build for Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 SUVs for a couple of years. Their rivals are already out with electrified drivetrains. Now, we expect a lot from Nissan and there are several reasons.

First, the carmaker made it clear – hybrids are a priority for the big update in 2021. Not only Maxima, but many other vehicles will come fresh with new powerplants. The focus is on two SUVs and the big sedan will definitely share the new unit with its siblings. Plus, this move will make Maxima more interesting again.

The hybrid unit will boost power output to 315 hp, at least. However, the company could turn to four-cylinder powerplant as the base for the setup. Fuel economy will get the major upgrade in any case. On the other hand, the plug-in model is less likely. However, some rumors claim the company is going to pair it with the new autonomous drive and deliver to several models, including the 2021 Nissan Maxima.

2021 Nissan Maxima Specs

The only drivetrain available for the 2021 Nissan Maxima is a V6. Engineers tuned its most reliable unit to deliver 300 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. A 3.5-liter powerplant is paired with a CVT transmission and this one is sending power to front wheels. The new generation could use either RWD or AWD. Definitely, the all-wheel drive would be a great update for the 2021 season.

The alternative could be a turbocharged four-cylinder drivetrain with slightly less power. The company already replaced a V6 with the 2.5-liter turbo-four in the new Altima. So, the 2021 Maxima could be the next one to get a similar upgrade. This motor can send power to all wheels. An intelligent system distributes power to the axle that needs it more. The VC engine is the first-ever unit with Variable Compression with turbochargers. With improved fuel efficiency, the new car will definitely draw attention. Currently, a V6 consumes 20/30 mpg in city/highway.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The Maxima is one of the quicker full-size sedans, and its V-6 engine sounds good when it’s pushed hard. The 3.5-liter V-6 makes 300 horsepower and moves the Maxima along with purpose. The continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), however, detracts from the Maxima’s sports-sedan mission. In our testing, a Maxima Platinum sprinted from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, outaccelerating rivals such as the Volkswagen Arteon and V-6-powered models of the Dodge Charger. The Maxima handles well for its size. The suspension is nicely damped and firm to the point of being perhaps too stiff for the class. The Maxima exhibits little body lean in aggressive cornering maneuvers, and in our testing, the Maxima SR easily outhandled its rivals.

Infotainment and Connectivity

An 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard across the Maxima range, and we found it easy to use. The infotainment system can be used as a touchscreen, but there also are redundant buttons on the center stack for quick access to common adjustments such as audio volume and climate control. The system also provides vehicle monitoring, remote access, and emergency services. Parents of teenage drivers may appreciate the speed, boundary, and curfew alerts, and the system automatically contacts emergency services when the airbags deploy after an accident. Being able to track the Maxima’s location in the event of theft is handy, as are remote start and door-lock access.

This is another mystery Nissan doesn’t want to resolve. We expect a hybrid unit based on a V6 for many other vehicles, including Pathfinder SUV and Quest minivan, which could return in 2021. Also, the new Maxima will be among the first units to get such technology. The Japanese carmaker is desperate to improve the fuel economy of the full-size vehicle, and the hybrid unit is one of the possibilities. In this case, the car would gain some extra power, but the gas mileage is the major reason why fans are asking about the 2021 Nissan Maxima Hybrid.

According to rumors, the new system is going to combine a 3.5-liter powerplant with an electric motor. The base hybrid configuration will be able to create at least 310 horsepower, while the possible plug-in setup can go even higher. Well, there are no close details about the development, but the company plans a raid in 2021 with new technologies and drive systems.

  • VDC автомобиль Nissan Maxima 2016;
  • TCS движение машины, с контролем тяги;
  • TPMS мониторинг давления в колесах.
  • DAA механизм, который предупреждает водителей о сонном или невнимательном состоянии, звуком и визуальным сигналом

Кроме стандартных комплектов, в дорогих седанах встроены механизмы:

  1. BSW слепых зон;
  2.  FEB контроля за помехами
  3. Сенсорных парктроников, как спереди, так и сзади.
  4. Камер обзоров на 360 градусов
  5. Бесключевых открытий дверей.

Is Nissan Going to Discontinue Maxima?

The fact is that sales are dropping. The full-size car achieves only 50,000 purchases per annum and the company must think about further steps. The discontinuation or replacement are not excluded. The leading US carmaker, Ford, already cut sedans from its portfolio. You won’t see Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, and Mondeo anymore. Well, the company could bring them back after a few years, but crossovers and SUVs are destroying all other classes. They are more comfortable, safer, and reliable than any other segments, so there is no wonder why Ford already ended production of its cars, and many other companies are considering similar moves as well.

Interior Treatments: Tech & Comfort

On the inside, the 2021 Maxima treats the driver and front passenger to Nissan’s Zero Gravity seats. The patented design includes three layers of foam, additional bolstering, and an option for premium Ascot leather. Heated seats are standard on the SR and Platinum while the rear seats feature a 60/40 split fold-down design.

The general theme of the interior is something Nissan calls a “Gliding Wing” layout, one they devised so all the controls would be within easy reach. Nissan wants the Maxima to be seen as a driver-centric vehicle, and borrowed elements from the GT-R to accomplish the task. One of the best examples is how the center stack tilts (by seven degrees) towards the driver, something that is a characteristic of the GT-R.

Every new Maxima comes with NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM. This allows drivers to access their Maxima via a smartphone or smartwatch (what will they think of next?!). Such features include the remote start, remote door lock and unlock, and valet alert among others. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability is standard on every 2021 Maxima, as is a Wi-Fi hotspot.

2021 Nissan Maxima Trim Levels

The 2021 Nissan Maxima will be there, that is for sure. Soon after that, we will find out if the Japanese automotive giant is after the new generation, or the car has not the bright future. In 2021, Maxima will keep its trim levels. Without AWD, six packages of equipment offered the wide choice to buyers.

The base model S and the price can’t go up. So, we will see
the new Maxima available for $35,000. SV model already comes with
leather-appointed seats, heated front buckets, and traffic sign sensors. Nissan
is working on improving its intelligent systems, and ProPilot is already one of
the most advanced services you can find in the market.

The SL model adds a premium audio system, panoramic moonroof, and heated steering wheel. Still, the price already reaches $40,000 and goes up when you add SR trim and its special drivetrain suspensions. Premium leather for the steering wheel and 19-inch wheels are a highlight on this model. The Platinum model comes with the same leather as upholstery and unique interior layouts. The top trim is Platinum Reserve. This one raises the premium features to another level with ultimate details inside the cabin.

Essential Foundations

An independent subframe-mounted strut with coil spring supports the 2021 Nissan Maxima at the front. The rear suspension comprises of an independent multi-link double-wishbone design with ZF Sachs dampers. The new Maxima also employs larger stabilizer bars, both front (26 mm) and rear (26.5 mm).

In addition to the robust mechanical components, every Maxima includes Nissan’s Integrated Dynamic-Control Module (IDM) system, which should help soften the ride. One such feature of the IDM system, Intelligent Ride Control, uses the brakes (what Nissan dubs as “targeted brake applications”) to mitigate the effects of a rough or bumpy road.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The Maxima offers room for five in a well-executed cabin that’s full of soft-touch materials, simple controls, and tons of high-end features. Front-seat legroom is among the best in the class, while headroom is average. Rear-seat space is not as generous as it is in larger rivals such as the now-discontinued Toyota Avalon. Power-adjustable driver and front-passenger seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and push-button start are standard across the board. One of the smallest trunks in the category means the Maxima starts with a disadvantage in cargo hauling, however, its larger cubbies are convenient places to stash everyday items, and its rear seatbacks fold down to accommodate larger items.
