Yes you read it right! Cadillac CTS-V 2019 is one of the most insane sedans in the market. Cadillac CTS-V debuted back in 2016 when it came with a 6.2L Supercharged V8 engine with an astonishing 640hp churning from the wheels with torque of 630 pound-ft. Remind you that it’s a daily driven 4-door sedan for your grocery pickups and going to work, this machine is extremely powerful and capable of running out the sports car. The Cadillac share its engine from Chevrolet Z06. The Cadillac CTS-V 2019 is remarkably fast as it does from 0-60mph in just 3.8 seconds. Cadillac CTS-V 2019 is the best model among lineup of CTS from 1st and 2nd generation. So despite of CTS being in production, the CTS-V doesn’t fails to impress the car enthusiasts. Unfortunately Cadillac has plans to shut down the production of CTS and ATS lineup soon enough to replace them with, you guessed it right there SUV models. However there is one secret drive mode in the car. In order to enable that you have to put the CTS-V 2019 into track mode and press the ‘traction control’ button twice very quickly. A little diagram will be popped up in the gauge cluster. Now you can select from Performance Traction which you can choose from wet, dry, sports 1 and sports 2. It tightens up the steering, changes accelerator and increases the throttle response. However it significantly changes the exhaust sound into brutal when in track mode.

The cup-holders are pretty common in every car, but Cadillac takes it to next level. The cup holders are covered by an automatic lid which pops open and close when you tap on it. Hence one does not has to slide the lid up and off which is annoying during the drive. Elegant and thoughtful describes this. In addition to cool cup holder lid there is a hidden compartment behind the central control buttons panel. If you pop the bottom of central control, it lifts up opening into a cavity which contains your wireless charging pad. So you can put your phone inside let it charge clos the central control and skip through the songs. The next on list of unconventional is rear-view mirror in Cadillac CTS-V 2019. Apparently the rear-view mirror has cameras installed to it so it works just like the reverse camera thus allowing you to switch between traditional and digital mirror. Talking about infotainment system which was not liked by many car reviewers and journalist, this year the Cadillac has upgraded its Q-infotainment system which responses better to touch, navigates efficiently on your finger tips and one other cool feature added is that as soon as you enter a school range it will notify you with a smooth ding and message displayed on screen. The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing offers similar specs to the third-gen Cadillac CTS-V for a reason. Both cars use the same ‘LT4’ V8, though the Blackwing’s version has a new intake, supercharger, and intercooler. They also ride on the same Alpha platform. The CT5-V Blackwing, though, is slightly smaller and lighter, yet it has a longer wheelbase, Road & Track notes.
Unlike the Cadillac CTS-V, there’s no wagon version of the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing. Admittedly, the third-gen 2016-2019 CTS-V wasn’t available as a wagon, either. Nor was it available as a coupe, again, something its predecessors offered. In terms of body styles, then, the old car and new car are equal. The Blackwing, though, only offers one wheel size, for reasons that we’ll discuss shortly.

However, the 2019 Cadillac CTS-V and the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing do have one critical performance difference: their transmission. Although the first two CTS-Vs offered a stick, the third-gen model is automatic-only. And while automatics are generally faster these days, having a manual sets the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing apart from its predecessor and rivals like the BMW M5. Plus, even with the stick, it’s faster than the 2019 CTS-V, making it a performance win-win. Little wonder that 62% of CT5-V Blackwing customers ordered the manual, R&T says.
2019 Cadillac CTS-V Configurations
The 2019 Cadillac CTS-V is a high-performance variant of the regular CTS sedan. The V version packs a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that generates 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. You can only get it with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Just one trim level is available.
Standard Equipment
Highlights include 19-inch wheels, summer performance tires, Brembo performance brakes, a digital limited-slip differential, a magnetically controlled suspension, an automated parking system, xenon headlights, and keyless ignition and entrance. The CTS-V also has forward collision warning, blind-spot, and rear cross-traffic warning systems, lane departure warning and intervention, and rearview and curb-view parking cameras.
In the cabin, you will discover dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats (with heating, manual thigh extenders, and power-adjustable bolsters), driver-seat memory configurations, leather, and simulated-suede upholstery, a heated power-adjustable steering wheel, and a simulated-suede headliner.
Cadillac also fits the CTS-V with a 12.3-inch all-digital gauge screen, a head-up screen, an 8-inch touchscreen interface, OnStar communications (with 4G LTE and a Wi-Fi hotspot), wireless smartphone charging, three USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a navigation system, and a 13-speaker Bose surround-sound sound system with satellite radio.
Packages
The optional Luxury package adds tri-zone climate control, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, heated rear seats, a power rear sunshade, manual rear side sunshades, a 110-volt power outlet, and Cadillac’s rearview camera mirror. The Carbon Fiber bundle adds a carbon-fiber hood vent, spoiler, front splitter, and rear diffuser.
Also optional are ventilated front seats, Recaro performance front seats, an onboard data and video recorder, a simulated-suede steering wheel, and a shift knob, in addition to a sunroof.
What I Recommend
It is possible to think about that the 2019 Cadillac CTS-V as a heavily modified CTS, and therefore, there are no other trims or levels. But there are packages, and I urge you to get the Luxury Package for its 60/40-split folding rear seat, heated rear seats, and window visors. I’d also pop for the Carbon Fiber package and the Recaro seats.
In the end, the 2019 Cadillac CTS-V is a huge performance luxury sedan. Its cabin is not quite as well put together as some of its German rivals, and its technology interface is not a favorite, but overall, this Cadillac is every bit an engineering accomplishment that Americans can be proud of.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing has better tech inside and outside than the last Cadillac CTS-V
While the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing inherits a few things from the last-gen Cadillac CTS-V, the new sedan benefits from technology’s constant march. As such, the Blackwing improves on the CTS-V in several areas.
Like the 2019 CTS-V, the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing has standard magnetorheological ‘MagneRide’ dampers. However, they’re now in their fourth generation, so they react and adjust even faster. The standard Performance Traction Management system is also upgraded. And it’s now so effective that even the development drivers keep it on to set the fastest lap times, Car and Driver says.
Oh, and remember how the new car only has one wheel size? That’s because going bigger would require fitting tires with shorter sidewalls, thus losing compliance. And that would take away not just the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing’s ride quality, but also its grip, steering, and handling capabilities, The Drive explains. In short, all the things that make it more “refined and talkative at the limit” than the third-gen Cadillac CTS-V, Hagerty notes.

Like the 2019 Cadillac CTS-V, the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing has standard Brembo brakes. However, they’re even bigger than the outgoing car’s brakes, making them the biggest fitted to any production Cadillac. Also, unlike the 2019 car, the Blackwing has optional carbon-ceramic brakes. Plus, its new cooling upgrades mean it doesn’t need a hood-extractor vent like the CTS-V. And in addition to an extra strut-tower brace, the CT5-V Blackwing also offers additional carbon-fiber aero add-ons, such as a rear diffuser, rear wing, and front splitter.
But the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing doesn’t just improve on the old car outside. It has a larger and clearer center touchscreen and better materials, The Drive says. The Blackwing’s interior quality isn’t quite “BMW good, it’s far better than it was in the old CTS-V,” R&T reports.
The new car is even “more potent” than its predecessor, MotorTrend says
Despite the upgrades, the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing costs slightly less than the 2019 CTS-V. When it was new, the 2019 CTS-V started at roughly $88.5K, Car and Driver reports. The Blackwing, though, starts at $84,990. Though to be fair, like its predecessor, the new car can easily eclipse the $100,000 mark.
Nevertheless, the “’Son of Cadzilla,’” as MotorTrend dubbed the CT5-V Blackwing, is arguably an evolution of the CTS-V. But it’s also more engaging and more fun than the 2019 car. On paper, it seems to be a subtle improvement. Yet in reality, the Blackwing is a significant step ahead.
