What’s the CT4 interior and in-car technology like?
We’ve criticized the design and quality of other Cadillac interiors, and although the CT4’s is awfully similar to those, its lower price and market positioning make it far more competitive and, well, palatable. It may not be as expressive as the Mercedes A- or CLA-classes, but for the money, we don’t think you’ll be disappointed. More-expensive models can be optioned with features such as massaging front seats and Super Cruise (late availability).
The infotainment system is controlled by an 8-inch touchscreen with a pair of redundant control knobs better suited to scrolling through playlists, radio stations or other menu functions. One is adjacent to the screen and volume knob, while the bigger one is on the center console. We like this setup quite a bit and appreciate the Cadillac’s system’s clean look and quick responses. The base setup includes wirelessly connected Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus Amazon Alexa integration and a choice of USB Type-A and Type-C charging. Upgrades include navigation, multiple Bose audio packages, and exclusive to the Blackwing, an AKG audio system. Wireless charging is added with those.
When can you order a 2023 Cadillac CT4 or CT4-V?

Like the CT5 and CT5-V models, GM assembles the 2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT4-V at its Lansing Grand River plant. And though it had to push the start date back slightly, the smaller Cadillac sedan is currently in production. Well, most versions are, at least.
GM has already started building the 2023 Cadillac CT4, CT4-V, and CT4-V Blackwing. The limited-edition CT4-V Blackwing Track Editions, though, have staggered starts. The Watkins Glen IMSA Edition won’t start production until October-December 2022, while the Sebring IMSA Edition is slated for January 2023. And Cadillac won’t start building the Road Atlanta IMSA Edition until February-March 2023.
However, while the Track Editions aren’t in production yet, you can order them right now. All 2023 CT4 and CT4-V order books are currently open. Furthermore, a local Chicagoland Cadillac dealer told me that CT4 deliveries should start within the next month.
Safety & Driver Assistance Tech: 6/15
The Cadillac CT4 only gets points for the bare minimum when it comes to safety—it meets all federally mandated safety standards and has more than six airbags (it comes standard with eight). The CT4 has yet to be tested by any U.S, European or Australian safety agency, so we can’t provide reliable data on its crashworthiness, which costs it points in our evaluation.
Beyond that, the CT4 follows General Motors’ unfortunate policy of making essential active safety features such as adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking part of extra-cost trim levels or option packages. Adaptive cruise control is not available, even as an option, on the standard Luxury. The Lexus and Genesis make those features standard, and both of those cars are Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ winners while the Lexus also receives a five-star overall crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The CT4 has less interior space than most of its rivals and this trait stands out the most in the back seat. It’s cramped with only 33.4 inches of legroom. Mike Hagerty
Infotainment: 9/15
The CT4’s instrument cluster is compact but provides a configurable menu of information between the gauges, which are clear and legible. The 8-inch infotainment screen in the center of the dash seems small and outdated, though it functions well. Part of the reason for that is that Cadillac has kept the screen’s functions to a minimum: audio, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and navigation (if equipped).
Climate controls are still on physical buttons outside the screen where they can be reached with minimum effort and distraction. The standard audio system is adequate, but the extra-cost 14-speaker Bose premium audio system is worth considering.
The CT4’s trunk is average, but that doesn’t mean it’s capacious. For a sedan there’s little storage space in the back and throughout the cabin. Mike Hagerty

Performance: 12/15
The CT4 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. Cadillac offers a second, hotter, 2.7-liter four and a twin-turbo V6 in its Blackwing model. From those three distinct personalities, the base-model four-cylinder Cadillac CT4 has the least horsepower of any of its rivals (237 for the Cadillac, 241 for the Lexus, 247 for the Volvo and 252 for the Genesis) and is the slowest to 60 at 7 seconds flat. The Lexus makes it in 6.9, the Volvo in 6.4 and the Genesis in 6.2.
Moving into upgraded engines changes things a bit, with the CT4’s 2.7-liter four (310 horsepower in Premium Luxury models, 325 in the V-Series) up against a 311 horsepower V6 in the Lexus and a 365 horsepower six in the Genesis. To 60 mpg from a standing start, the CT4 Premium Luxury gets there in 5.7 seconds. That’s smoked by the CT4 V-Series, which does it in 4.8 seconds.
Cadillac’s 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 in the Blackwing is where the Cadillac dominates in the stoplight drag race, with 3.9 second zero-to-60 times in automatic models, 4.1 in manuals. All the high-performance models come with better brakes and suspensions than the base models. The CT4 Blackwing handles beautifully, feels rock-solid and is a strong all-around performer. It’s easily a match for BMW’s more expensive M3.
All CT4 models can be had either with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive (AWD).

What’s different about the 2023 model?
Mechanically, the 2023 Cadillac CT4 family is identical to its 2022 incarnation. However, the small price increase and upcoming Track Editions aren’t the only changes.
Firstly, the CT4 and CT4-V now offer a Bronze Accent Package. In addition to bronze wheels and center caps, this also adds blacked-out exterior trim and lug nuts. Secondly, Cadillac replaced some optional paint colors with new ones. Instead of Diamond Sky Metallic, Satin Steel Metallic, Shadow Metallic, Garnet Metallic, and Infrared Tintcoat, there’s now Radiant Red Tincoat, Argent Silver Metallic, and Midnight Steel Metallic. Furthermore, the 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing now offers optional enclosed shipping.
That’s all we currently know about the 2023 Cadillac CT4. But keep watching this page, because we’ll update it as more information comes out.

Is the 2023 Cadillac CT4 Worth It? Which Cadillac CT4 Is the Best Value?
Base price for the 237-horsepower Cadillac CT4 Luxury rear-wheel sedan is $35,790 (excluding destination). Opting for the Premium Luxury trim ($40,690) adds an eight-way power front passenger seat with power lumbar adjustment, adaptive cruise control, ambient interior lighting, a driver assist package with enhanced automatic emergency braking and reverse automatic braking, front and rear park assist, auto-dimming interior mirror, leather seating surfaces and memory settings. It also opens up extra-cost options not available on the base trim.
The Sport trim ($41,890) has the same feature content as Premium Luxury and is essentially an appearance package. AWD can be had in any of these trims for an extra $2,000. The Premium Luxury trim is also available with a 310-horsepower 2.7-liter turbo four at $45,790 for rear-drive and $47,790 for AWD. The 2.7 is offered only with a 10-speed automatic in place of the 2.0’s eight-speed.That same engine, making 325 horsepower, is the only engine available in the CT4 V-Series ($47,990 rear, $48,490 AWD). The V-Series also features serious performance upgrades like adaptive suspension, magnetic ride control, an electronic limited-slip rear differential, Brembo brakes and summer-only tires.
The Blackwing ($61,890 for manual transmission in either rear- or front-drive; $65,065 for automatic in either rear or front) packs all of the above plus a 472-horsepower 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6. Incredibly, despite the heavy outlay of cash, the active safety features that are standard on the Premium Luxury trim revert to extra-cost options in the V-Series and Blackwing.
Our choice would be the Premium Luxury trim with the 2.7-liter turbo four. It includes the essential active safety features unavailable in the base Luxury trim, compares favorably with the competition (the six-cylinder Lexus and Genesis) on price and performance and beats them both on fuel economy.
What are its safety equipment and crash ratings?
The 2022 Cadillac CT4 Luxury model comes with no advanced safety systems standard, though forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking are standard on all other trim levels. The Driver Awareness Plus package adds lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning. The Driver Assist package adds an enhanced emergency braking system that operates at higher speeds as well as in reverse. Adaptive cruise control is included with that package, while Cadillac’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous highway driving system will be a late-availability option.
The CT4 had not been crash tested by a third party at the time of this writing.

The Cadillac CT4 lineup hasn’t changed between 2022 and 2023. The base model is still the Luxury, followed by the Premium Luxury 350T, Sport, and Premium Luxury 500T. And technically, the Luxury’s and Sport’s full names are ‘Luxury 350T’ and ‘Sport 350T,’ respectively. Then come the V-Series models, the CT4-V and CT4-V Blackwing.
Although the lineup hasn’t changed, the pricing has. All Cadillac CT4 models cost slightly more in 2023 than in 2022, GM Authority reports. The prices, including destination charges, break down in the following way:
- CT4:
- Luxury 350T:
- Premium Luxury 350T:
- Sport 350T:
- Premium Luxury 500T:
- CT4-V:
- Blackwing:
According to GM Authority, all 2023 Cadillac CT4 trims but the Premium Luxury 500T cost $700 more than they did in 2022. That trim, meanwhile, costs $500 more. The CT4-V also costs $700 more, while the CT4-V Blackwing costs $1500 more. All 2023 CT4 and CT4-V models, though, have the same $1395 destination charge.
What features are available and what’s the price?
The “Luxury” model represents the entry-level CT4. It starts at $34,690, including the surprisingly reasonable $995 destination charge. Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, power front seats (12-way driver and 10-way passenger; both with power lumbar adjustment), leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen interface, wireless connected Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. and an eight-speaker sound system.
Stepping up to the Premium Luxury model adds 18-inch wheels, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlights and wipers, driver’s seat memory settings and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. This trim also makes the 2.7-liter engine available as well as additional advanced safety systems.
The Sport is positioned as an alternative to the Premium Luxury for those who prefer a more youthful, performance-oriented style. It’s still offered exclusively with the 2.0-liter engine, but includes blacked-out trim, unique wheels, and sport-themed interior surfaces and accents.
The CT4-V is the entry-level performance trim. It comes standard with the enhanced 2.7-liter engine and adds a mechanical limited-slip differential, bigger brakes, Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 and V-specific wheels. Both summer and all-season tires are available.
And then there’s Blackwing. Standard equipment at this level includes everything on the CT4-V, plus the bigger engine, standard summer-spec tires, and of course, the manual gearbox. Interior upgrade packages include front sport seats with adjustable bolsters and lumbar massage. A performance data recorder and exterior carbon fiber aerodynamic components are also available.
There are quite a few available options, most of which are bundled into packages. Below you’ll find the base prices for each trim, but you can check out the 2022 Cadillac CT4’s full pricing, specs and feature breakdown here on Autoblog.

Comfort & Room: 10/15
The tight exterior dimensions that help make the CT4 maneuverable have a downside—less interior room. The cabin is an inch narrower than the IS and almost an inch and a half slimmer than the S60 and G70. Its wheelbase, at 109.3, is nearly an inch shorter than the Lexus, more than 2 inches shorter than the Genesis, and almost 4 inches shorter than the Volvo. This shows up in rear-seat legroom, where the Cadillac’s 33.4 inches beats only the truly cramped Lexus (32.2) and is noticeably less roomy than the Genesis (34.8) and the Volvo (35.2).As for front seat comfort and amenities, it’s once again about what you’re willing to pay, with the $4,900 “Premium Luxury” trim required to match what the others have in their base models.
