2023 Audi Q7 Preview: Next Generation Audi Q7 Looks Like
Audi Q7 Next Generation Fast, efficient, luxurious, and loaded with technology to make every drive a pleasure, the Audi Q7 2023 enters the new model year with what we hoped for only minimal changes.
Last year saw the addition of more standard safety and comfort features to the mid-range trim, such as rear side airbags, live tire pressure monitoring, and heated/power-folding side mirrors.
Similarly, subtle tweaks to standard features available in the three main trims of the Q7 are possible, although the basic formula for this advanced 7-seater SUV remains the same.
This means Audi’s highly regarded Quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD) system is installed throughout the range, whether Q7 buyers opt for the standard 248-horsepower turbocharged inline-4, 329-hp turbo V6 mild hybrid, or 500-hp turbo. The V8 is mounted on the tallest SQ7.
Standard features in the Q7 2023 include third-row seating, an excellent dual-screen infotainment system, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital driver information display, leather seating surfaces, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, tri-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. This is in addition to the long line of standard active safety features.
While the exterior of the Q7 looks handsome and understated, it is the quality of the cabin that makes this Audi SUV stand out among its competitors which include the Lexus RX, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, BMW X5, and Genesis GV80.
This is a sophisticated and user-friendly place to spend your time, although keep in mind that the third row is best suited for children. With each seat filled, you have about 14 cubic feet of cargo space.
It’s no longer the newest midsize luxury SUV on the block, but the Audi Q7 2023 remains a smart choice in a contested segment.
2023 Audi Q7 Exterior: How is the exterior styling of the Audi Q7 2023?
The exterior styling of the Audi Q7 is something we’ve been passionate about for a long time. The current generation is the second generation of SUVs and has been going on since 2016.
The styling still looks fresh, more than five years later. This SUV looks very sophisticated but still has a solid appeal. We also think that Audi pulls a bigger grill better than anyone (cough, cough, BMW, cough).
Being the most practical SUV of all, the dimensions are sure to be large and remain the largest in terms of wheelbase and length.
The Q7 is a heavier car compared to its class mainly due to its larger size. But it also comes with the added advantage of accommodating passengers easily in the third row.
The dimensions cannot be considered small by any imagination in any car in this segment.
What about the security offered by the Audi Q7 2023?
The 2023 Audi Q7 is one of the safest cars with a five-star NHTSA crash test rating for the 2020 model which is very close to the 2023 model.
The car is also loaded with many safety features to keep you and your passengers safe, including but not limited to:
- Active cruise control with the help of line guards
- Audi Pre Sense Front, Pre Sense Basic, Pre Sense Rear
- Tire pressure monitoring system
- Rear Traffic Warning
- Night vision aid
- Audi Park Steering assistance
- Lane Departure Assist
- 360 View Camera

There are five options for 2022; The Premium 45, Premium 45 Plus, Premium 55, Premium Plus 55 and Prestige 55 models have different safety, comfort, and mechanical characteristics. Yes, there is also the S2023 Q7, a sportier version of the 2023 Q7 and part of the Audi Sline.

Torque ramps are the same torque values of 273 lb-ft, 369 lb-ft, and 568 lb-ft for each of the three motors. Terrain AWD and an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission are standard across the 2023 Q7 range in general, delivering an impressive 0-60 MPH time of 6.9 seconds to 4.3 seconds.
The main difference between the Premium and Premium Plus trims is the engine that is brought from the factory. The Premium Plus comes with a turbocharged 3.0-Liter V6 engine, while the Premium comes with a 2.0-Liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
Further differences include an upgraded camera featuring a virtual 360-degree view, a premium Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, and an Audi phone case with wireless charging, to improve call quality and reduce in-cab phone radiation.
The biggest change comes when it moves to the 2023 Q7 Prestige 55 trim, which features all the standard features of the Premium Plus trim, including the larger turbocharged 3.0-Liter V6.
Additionally, the Prestige trim features adaptive air suspension, adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assistance, multicolor ambient lighting, and 20-in. Five-spoke turbine wheels, four-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.
The latest version of the 2023 Q7 series undergoes some minor changes from the 2021 variant but remains true to the successful features of the previous generation.
The 2023 Q7 underwent a significant transformation in 2020 with an almost complete interior and exterior redesign. The latest Audi 2023 Q7 has not yet received a transformation of this scale but has undergone some small, but important, changes for 2022.
The main changes are mostly related to safety improvements, accentuated by changes such as rear side airbags, tire pressure monitoring system, and driving assistance features in the trim. Premium Plus such as lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.
Other than that, not too many other changes were mentioned, as Audi has retained the new fascia and general look of the 2021 2023 Q7. However, that’s not a bad thing as the 2021 Audi 2023 Q7 got pretty good reviews.
The interior retains the seven-seat arrangement with the ability to fold two rows of rear seats to maximize cargo space. On the dashboard, an array of elegant switches and buttons surrounds the swanky two-touch infotainment setup, adding to the convenience of modern SUV technology.
2023 Audi Q7 Engine
Packing a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine that produces 500 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque, the Audi SQ7 is a very powerful seven-seater.
Our test team measured a launch of 3.6 seconds to 60 mph, tying Audi’s RS5 Sportback in hitting the mark.
Adaptive air suspension and large brakes add to its sporty credentials. Surprisingly, the fuel economy isn’t bad considering the performance, around 15/21 mpg city/highway.
Also surprisingly, it’s not the fastest three-row SUV. The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat hits 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and the emission-free Tesla Model X Plaid likely does the same in less than 3.0 seconds.
2023 Audi Q7 Redesign
The Audi Q7 Redesign and SQ7 2023 will arrive for the new model year with a few changes. The two SUVs will continue to share many of the same components, design elements, and features as the current model, but have received some noteworthy changes.
On the outside, things for the Q7 and SQ7 will remain largely the same for the 2023 model year. Major changes to the Q7 45 TFSI trim include new optional Matrix-designed LED headlamps.
Beyond the newly available headlights, the Q7 and SQ7 continue to have a conservative yet upscale design. The wide grille at the front, smooth lines, rectangular taillights, and rounded roofline make for an SUV that looks luxurious.
The Audi Q7 Redesign 2023 Interior and SQ7 should carry over for the coming year. There’s a new interior package for the Q7 which adds synthetic leather upholstery with stitching to the dashboard, while Premium Plus trim adds stitching to the armrests and center console.
The current midsize SUV features a minimalist design with a high-tech screen and few buttons. The dual-screen configuration places the controls in an easy-to-reach place for the driver while providing a neat appearance.
In terms of technological features, the 2023 Q7 and SQ7 will continue to come with the same features as the current models.
Standard features should include a 10.1-inch top touchscreen, 8.6-inch bottom touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Audi Virtual Cockpit system, Wi-Fi hot spots, Bluetooth, navigation, and a 10-speaker audio system.
Available features include a 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system and a wireless charging pad.

A 3.0-liter turbocharged 335 horsepower V6 engine with a mild hybrid system will be available. The SQ7 is equipped with a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 500 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. All models are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
We don’t expect Audi to make any changes to the Q7 and SQ7’s list of safety features for 2023.
Standard safety features on the current model include forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, rear traffic warning, blind spot monitoring, and departure warning. lane, automatic height beam assist, and parking sensors.
Available safety features include lane-keeping assist, surround-view parking camera, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control.
2023 Audi Q7 Interior: What are the changes to the interior in the Audi Q7 2023?
Next-Gen Audi Q7 Inside the 2023 Audi Q7 is home to one of the sleekest interiors in any car you are likely to come across. The technology used is very new and the materials are of high quality.
The design and layout are very simple but sophisticated. There is a timeless sense of elegance that can be observed in cars and this is something that hasn’t gone away in years.
One of the Q7’s biggest advantages is its seating capacity. It is one of the few cars that offer seating for seven passengers. One should also note that it is very generous in terms of space even in the third row.
Passengers may feel that the legroom is a bit cramped but even so, we can understand it for the third row.
As we have mentioned, the seating capacity for seven passengers is only available on the Q7 and Acura MDX. However, the Q7 remains a little wider in almost every respect compared to Acura.
Even if you compare it to its five-seater rival, the Q7 is very spacious and this is what has been the trump card for this car for a long time. It may not give the best performance but it is certainly very practical.
This is also reflected in the cargo space which is the leading class in many aspects.
How intuitive is the Audi Q7 2023 infotainment unit?
Equipped with the infotainment system provided in the Audi Q7 2023 is quite generous. This SUV has three touch screen panels.
The main infotainment screen is a 10.1-inch touchscreen panel that can configure most cars. There’s an additional 12.3 ”display, which is supported by the Audi Virtual Cockpit assistance system for your instrument cluster.
Climate control and seat functions are controlled by another 8.6-inch screen which is also very comfortable to use. It also has standard features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
SiriusXM All Access subscriptions are also available for a 90-day period, which can be extended later. The infotainment system is very intuitive and easy to use.
It can be learned in just a few days. They are also highly configurable and one can personalize the display. We found the Audi Virtual cockpit a blessing and a pleasure to use.
In the trim levels from Premium Plus and up, you also get a stunning 3D Surround Sound System.

2023 Audi Q7 MPG

Opting for the Q7 55 TFSI nets a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that makes 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
Audi estimates the 0-60 mph acceleration will take 5.7 seconds. The fuel economy will likely be similar to last year’s 18/23 mpg rating.
2023 Audi Q7 Review: Next Gen Audi Q7
The Q7 is Audi’s entrant in the competitive luxury three-row SUV segment. The original Audi Q7 appeared for the 2006 model year, demonstrating Audi’s approach to technology, practicality, and capability at the time.
That continues into the current second generation, which went on sale in 2016. An extensive refresh was implemented for 2020, and several updates were added for 2023.
Supply chain constraints affecting the automotive industry have hit the Audi 2023 lineup. Some of the features listed here may not be available on certain Q7 models. Check with your Audi dealer for details.
- 13 hp more powerful base turbo four-cylinder engine
- The comfort package now includes adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist
- Upgraded LED headlights mounted on 45 TFSI Premium Plus, 55 TFSI
- New paint, trim, and styling details on the offer
- SQ7 is available with double pane glass and 22-inch wheels
Luxury is not hard to find in the Audi Q7. Slide into the driver’s seat, and you’ll be immersed in a sleek cabin packed with technology and upholstered in high-quality materials.
Rolling on the road, the Q7 is consistently smooth and quiet, with standard all-wheel drive and available all-wheel steering adding to the athleticism.
Refined like the Q7, excitement varies by model — from thrilling in the V-8-powered SQ7, and not so much in the four-cylinder 45 TFSI model.
Functionality is where the Q7 falters. It’s not as broad and versatile as some of its segment competitors. The third row is particularly small and difficult to access, reducing its efficacy as a family SUV.
While the driver assistance features are effective, some competing vehicles include more as standard equipment.
As a luxury SUV, the Audi Q7 is pretty good. However, as a luxury three-row SUV, there are better options.
Every Audi Q7 2023 has an abundance of screens. The infotainment system comprises a 10.1-inch top touchscreen for media and key vehicle functions, plus an 8.6-inch bottom touchscreen for climate control and comfort.
A 12.3-inch digital gauge display is also standard and is complemented by a heads-up display on the Prestige model. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in navigation, and two front-row USB ports are standard.
A 10-speaker audio system is found in the Premium model, which increases to 19 speakers on the Premium Plus model and again to 23 speakers on the Prestige model.

2023 Audi Q7 Engine: What engines does the Audi Q7 2023 offer?
On the engine front, Audi’s flagship SUV is powered by two engines – a 2 L turbocharged four-cylinder engine known as 45 TFSI and a more powerful turbocharged V-6 3 L engine known as a 55 TFSI.
The former produces a combined output of 248 hp along with the hybrid system and the latter produces an output of 335 hp.
The transmission is an eight-speed automatic and the all-wheel-drive car is standard equipped with Audi’s famous Quattro system.
The base engine remains a 2 L inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine. The 3 L engine is available as an option for an additional $ 6,000. Audi’s 2.0 L engine is the weakest in its class despite being the most expensive vehicle.
Another car that has a 2 L engine is the Jaguar, but at the same time, it carries a higher status which allows it to produce 20 horsepower more. The Acura MDX is almost the same as the Jaguar output.
The BMW X5 on the other hand is in another league with a great power output reflected in the 0 to 60 numbers as well. However, it’s worth noting that you can upgrade to a more powerful machine for a small fee.
What MPG figure will the Audi Q7 2023 offer?
Now regarding MPG one can expect that at lower pitch conditions the Audi Next Gen Q7 compared to its competitors will at least result in better fuel efficiency. But even with a hybrid system that’s not the case.
Fuel efficiency is arguably bad, with a combination of 18 MPG. One thing Audi has is that it has a large fuel tank which makes for a pretty good range.
Compared to its competitors, the range included with the Audi Next Gen Q7 is still poor, with the Acura being the only saving grace.
However, it should be noted that Acura returns a higher fuel efficiency figure, it’s just that the tank on the Acura MDX is small. Jaguar is top in terms of fuel efficiency but BMW comes second.
It was surprising to us that the X5 with a much larger engine still had better fuel efficiency while delivering much more power.
2023 Audi SQ7 SUV
The SQ7 could be the fastest seven-passenger SUV on the planet. Audi says it hits 60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds. That’s fast. But Car and Driver go faster.
The magazine tested the SQ7 and saw a time of zero to 60 in just 3.5 seconds. In comparison, Urus takes about the same amount of time, but you can only show speed to four (not 6) friends.
By comparison, the standard Q7 with its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine took 6.9 seconds to hit 60, Audi says. Of course, the V8 only gets a combined 20 mpg, the four cylinders get better mileage, though not much better, at just 21 combined.
The SQ7 may be a performance machine, but it’s also practical. The Audi SQ7 is also a real seven-seater SUV with real SUV capabilities. It could pull 7,700 pounds, for example. That’s almost a ton more than the Ford Explorer can pull.
It can also be very practical when you want it. You can fold the second and third row seats flat and it can accommodate 69.6 cubic feet of stuff. A Jeep Grand Cherokee can carry 68 cubic feet.
A real SUV is expected to go off-road as well. While the SQ7 is equipped with (appropriate) summer performance tires, its adaptive air suspension can lift the entire SUV over off-road obstacles.
Just make sure you don’t rip off that expensive-looking front air dam.
2023 Audi Q7 Price
We estimate the base price of the Audi Q7 2023 equipped with the standard 4-cylinder turbocharged will start at around $57,000.
It’s about what you’d pay for rivals like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. Although it should be noted that the Audi Q7 has a significant advantage over the entry-level Lexus RX, Genesis GV80, and Lincoln Aviator models.
The mid-range Q7 equipped with a turbocharged V6 brings an asking price of around $65,000. While the top-of-the-line SQ7 model with the potent twin-turbo V8 has a starting price of around $88,000, we found it easy to send the price into 6-figure territory when adding every available option to this high price tag. – Performance SUV.
- Premium 45 $57,995
- Premium Plus 45 $60,895
- Premium 55 $62,295
- Premium Plus 55 $65,895
- Prestige 55 $73,995
Should I buy the Audi Q7 2023?
Audi Next Gen Q7 2023 is a wise choice for people from all walks of life. This well-designed, practical and safe SUV also delivers the performance it deserves.
But since the generation has remained largely unchanged since 2016, one can also find cars on the used car market that are in good condition.
Nonetheless, if you want the peace of mind that comes with a new vehicle and warranty, you should buy a new car. This is one of the best that Audi has to offer and we can recommend this vehicle in many garages.
