About Daewoo
GM Daewoo Auto & Technology (GM Daewoo or GMDAT) was first established as National Motor in 1937 in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, South Korea. After changing its name to Saenara Motor in 1962, Saenara Motor was bought by Shinjin Industrial in 1965, which changed its name to Shinjin Motor after establishing collaborations with Toyota.
After Toyota’s withdrawal in 1972, Shinjin Motor started a joint venture with General Motors under the name General Motors Korea, but was renamed again in 1976 to Saehan Motor. After the Daewoo Group gained control in 1982 the name was changed to Daewoo Motor. In the early 1990s the company started to expand heavily throughout the world. Until 1996 all cars were based on models from General Motors. After the Asian financial crisis started in 1997, it took over the troubled 4WD specialist SsangYong in 1998, but ran into financial trouble in 1999.
In 2001 General Motors decided to buy most of Daewoo Motor’s assets to form GM Daewoo. The new company started operations on October 17, 2002, with GM and its partners Suzuki and SAIC holding a stake of 66.7% with investments of US$400 million. The remaining equity stake of 33.3% was held by Korea Development Bank and several other Korean creditors with investments of US$197 million. The deal did not include 15 plants, especially Daewoo’s oldest plant in Bupyeong-gu which now operates under the name Daewoo Incheon Motor Company as a supplier to GM Daewoo; General Motors plans to buy this plant by 2008. In 2004, Tata Motors purchased Daewoo’s Truck manufacturing unit. In February 2005, GM invested US$49 million to raise its share in the company to 48.2%. Furthermore, GM acquired 6.9 million shares in GM Daewoo for US$21 million from Suzuki Motors in August of the same year. General Motors’ share in GM Daewoo then increased to 50.9%. Suzuki still holds 11% of GMDAT but is reported to be considering selling this to GM.
GMDAT has design, engineering, research & development facilities that are involved in development for various GM products. On November 25, 2003, the design center was relocated to the new 2-story building at the Bupyeong-gu headquarters and assigned the task to style a new SUV based on GM’s Theta automobile platform to be released in 2006.
Toyota Passo

Daewoo Tosca (South Korea; facelift)
Daewoo’s XK straight-six engines were designed by Porsche, and they are what distinguish the Tosca from other similar vehicles. The V250 is a front-wheel drive car and the engines are mounted transversely; this configuration requires the straight-six engine to be very compact and packed quite tight. The Tosca was launched with two versions of the straight-six of different displacements: the 2.5 litre, which was carried over from the Magnus, and a 2.0 litre, which replaces the Holden-sourced 2.0 litre E-TEC II used in the previous model. Since 2006, a 1.8 litre version of the E-TEC II engine model is also available in the South Korean market. This engine is coupled to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
GM also announced that in early 2007 these engines will be joined by a 2.0 litre RA 420 SOHC straight-four common rail turbodiesel, producing 112 kilowatts (150 hp) and 310 newton metres (229 ft·lbf) of torque. The engine, co-developed by GM Powertrain, GM Daewoo, and VM Motori, debuted in the Daewoo Winstorm, and was the first diesel engine used in a Daewoo car. In early 2008, Daewoo launched an updated version of Tosca with a new six-speed automatic transmission in South Korea. There are two versions of six-speed automatic transmission: GM 6T40 for the 2.0 and 2.5 litre pertrol engines and GM 6T45 for the 2.0 litre diesel engine. At the same time, Daewoo also revised rear portion of the car, changing the rear combination lamp and rear bumper.

Basic Information About Full Coverage Auto Insurance
Full coverage is a common term used in car insurance. However, it has many different meanings to many different people. This is because full coverage auto insurance depends on the needs and requirements of the person buying it. In addition, not all insurance companies have the same rules when it comes to the actual coverage it includes. It is not a “buy-1-take-all” kind of insurance policy. The coverage it includes may still vary, and if it is your first time to buy auto insurance, you need to know the basic terms used.
What comprises basic full coverage auto insurance? Check your policy offer if it includes the following:

Name
GM Daewoo’s official press releases says that Tosca is an acronym for «Tomorrow Standard Car».«Tosca» is also a popular opera by Giacomo Puccini. The «Chevrolet Epica» name was previously used on V200 Daewoo Magnus models sold in Canada, Latin America, China, Europe, Arabia and Micronesia. Since April 2007, the Tosca has been marketed as the Holden Epica for the Australian and New Zealand markets, replacing the Holden Vectra sourced from Opel in Germany. Holden dropped the Epica in 2011 due to weak sales. It is also manufactured and sold in Kazakhstan as Chevrolet Epica since June 2007. Models in Iceland are badged «Chevrolet Tosca».
