Every Malibu comes with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen running GM’s familiar and colorful software. Though this interface seems a little simplistic compared to newer and flashier systems like Kia’s excellent Connect, its simplicity is a boon. Chevy’s systems and menus are easy to learn and operate. There are also plenty of hard controls for things like HVAC and other functions, where some automakers insist on putting these things on touchscreens. Buttons are always better.
For those who don’t like the standard interface, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and work well. There are also a pair of standard USB ports, A and C type, and a Wi-Fi hotspot, though it requires a data plan. Unfortunately, navigation is only available on the pricey top-trim 2LT, but you can always use CarPlay or Android Auto for this.
At 15.7 cubic-feet, the Malibu’s trunk is above average for the class. Alex Kwanten

Внешность нового Шевроле Малибу 2021 2022 года очень впечатляет. Лицевая часть нового Шевроле Малибу 2021 2022 года стала строгой, надменной, презентабельной. Для тех, кто считает, что у компании Chevrolet нет автомобиля D-класса, способного конкурировать с эталоном данного сегмента Toyota Camry, стоит напомнить о таком седане, как Malibu XL. Отечественным автомобилистам данная модель может быть плохо знакома, так как в российских дилерских центрах Chevrolet ее не встретить, однако за границей и, в частности, в Китае, эта модель получает стабильные обновления и еще больше укрепляет свои позиции в конкуренции с Camry. Поводом для того, чтобы вспомнить эту модель послужило то, что сегодня было объявлено о обновлении седана на 2022 модельный год и вместе с этим производитель раскрыл его стоимость для рынка КНР.
Автомобиль, как и прежде оснащается 1.5 и 2.0-литровыми бензиновыми двигателями с турбонаддувом. Каждый из них взаимодействует с 9-ступенчатой автоматической коробкой передач. Топовый двигатель способен генерировать 236 л.с. и 350 Н*м крутящего момента. При этом он разогняет массивный седан с 0 до 100 км/ч за семь секунд ровно. Менее объемный мотор не такой производительный, однако его главная “фишка” заключается в другом: в умеренном режиме движения седан с этим двигателем в среднем потребляет 6.3 литра топлива на 100 км пути. Также необходимо сказать, что производитель распространяет гарантию на каждый из двигателей в течении 8 лет с момента покупки или 160 000 км пробега.
Среди нововведений, которые получил автомобиль стоит заострить внимание на том, что все версии Chevrolet Malibu теперь оснащены системой климат-контроля с фильтрами очистки воздуха по системе PM2.5. Также модель получает датчики давления в колесах, задние дефлекторы системы отопления, системой доступа в салон без ключа и бесключевой запуск авто
Также производитель добавил такие функции как систему автоматического складывания зеркал заднего вида и камеру заднего вида высокой четкости с линиями реверсивной траектории. Теперь о главном, стоимость Chevrolet Malibu XL 2022 в Китае начинается от 164 900 до 219 900 юаней (1.8 — 2.4 млн рублей). При этом автомобиль предложен в 6 комплектациях.
Comfort & Room: 13/15
Exciting it ain’t, but as frequent visitors to the rental car facility at the airport can attest, the Malibu is quiet and comfortable. Like most other family sedans, there’s plenty of room for tall folks in front. There’s a little less legroom than in most rivals, but the open, airy cabin doesn’t feel confining. The seats are supportive and well-bolstered if a little on the firm side (though the ones in the Subaru Legacy are firmer).
The real test for family friendliness is the back seat, and here the Malibu also does well. With 38.1 inches of rear legroom, it’s 2 inches shy of the capacious Accord and a little less behind the Legacy, but it has appreciably more legroom than the Altima (35.2 inches) or the Sonata (34.8). Even a 6-foot-4 adult could easily ride back there all day without feeling confined. Numbers aside, the Malibu feels bigger than it actually is, and perfectly comfortable.

Malibu продолжает отставать от своих конкурентов 2021 года, поскольку вступает в новый модельный год без каких-либо серьезных обновлений. Беспроводная связь Apple CarPlay и Android Auto присоединяются к списку стандартных функций в этом году, а пакет внешнего вида Sport Edition недавно доступен для LT. Пакет Sport Edition добавляет черные значки Chevrolet на решетке радиатора и крышке багажника, черную решетку радиатора и черные 19-дюймовые колеса. Safety & Driver Assistance Tech: 9/15
The 2023 Chevrolet Malibu gets a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a slate of “Good” marks in all of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) tests. Those results are only mediocre in this highly competitive field, and several of the Malibu’s competitors earn “Top Safety Pick” designations from IIHS and five stars from NHTSA.
At the very least, Chevrolet has finally added some standard active-safety features. Forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warnings with lane keep assist, forward collision alerts, a following distance indicator and automatic high beams are now included on all Malibu trims. This still isn’t as much gear as you get on the competition though, with features like adaptive cruise control standard at Honda and Subaru.
A $545 Driver Confidence Package adds rear cross-traffic alerts, lane change alerts with blind spot detection and rear parking assist, but it also wipes out the Malibu’s price advantage over its competitors. Now that the Premier trim is gone, so is adaptive cruise control.
With more than 38 inches of rear legroom, the Malibu’s rear seats are comfy for tall adults and have plenty of room for kids. Alex Kwanten

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu Worth it? Which Malibu is the Best Value?
It isn’t exciting, but the Malibu is a decent daily driver that fits the needs of many different consumers. It has little pricing advantage over its competition though, and as new car inventories begin to recover that makes it less compelling. You’re more likely to find it at the advertised price and in stock than certain other family sedans, but the value is going to depend on the deal in front of you. If you can find one cheap, it’s an easy car to live with.
There are four trims, with the very basic LS starting at $26,095 (including a $1,095 destination fee), which is a few hundred dollars less than most competitors, but about $600 more than the better-equipped (and roomier) base-model Subaru Legacy.
If you can live without heated seats or 17-inch wheels, the $27,095 RS is the best of the bunch, since adding the $545 Driver Confidence package still puts it under $28,000. If you want a few more features, including a remote start and the option of heated seats and steering wheel (all useful assets in icy midwestern winters), the $29,195 LT is the better bet. It includes heated front seats and nicer wheels, and a few other extras, but you still need to pay extra for the Driver Confidence package.
The $32,595 2LT trim replaces the Premier this year and offers navigation and the nicest interior color combo, but at that price there are better values among the Malibu’s competitors.

Named after the Californian city Malibu, the Chevrolet Malibu embodies the affluence of Malibu. The Chevrolet Malibu was earlier the name of one of the variants of the Chevrolet Chevelle till 1983. Then in 1997, the Malibu was launched as a new car altogether. Presently, the car is in eighth edition. The Malibu is a mid-size 4 door sedan that comes with a powerful 2.4-litre DOHC ECOTEC engine and front wheel drive. This elegant looking sedan has many resemblance with the Chevrolet Cruze, like the front grilles and the body lines, however they are two very distinct cars.
As such, Malibu has luxurious interiors and features that puts it at par with many other mid-range C segment cars like a 7 inch touchscreen display, Remote ignition and leather upholsteries. The power output also measures a fairly decent 165 hp at 5,800 rpm alongside a maximum torque of 225 Nm at 4,600 rpm. The fuel economy for the engine measures a very efficient 12.8 kmpl and the fuel tank capacity is a convenient 76 litres. The transmission system as such is a 6 speed automatic that comes with Driver Shift Control that lets you switch to manual mode. The interiors have a certain amount of fluidity and the driver’s cockpit resembles that of an airplane because of its separated dials. The exteriors are pretty good too. The headlights are High Discharge lamps along with automatic leveling and tunnel detection feature that adjusts the headlights according to the requirements and also equipped with it are high pressure headlight washers that keeps the lamps clean. Such features make the Malibu a feature packed car. The ambient lighting inside the Malibu uplifts the passenger’s mood pretty well, making the ride enjoyable. Thus Malibu is a complete package that offers you luxury and also stands tall as a value for money buy.

Performance: 8/15
With the Premier trim gone, all Malibus are now powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque mated to a CVT. While it doesn’t feel horribly slow, the Malibu is never in very much of a hurry and can seem a little winded trying to pass on steep grades. Acceleration is average, and it’ll hit 60 mph in around 8 seconds.
The car’s handling is neutral, without too much understeer, and the steering is light without being floaty. It rides quietly and smoothly, even over broken pavement, and the sporty-looking RS trim doesn’t change anything about how it drives. This is a transportation appliance, nothing more. The Sonata and K5 are more engaging to drive, but the Malibu drives about the same as an Altima, and a little more smoothly than the lower-trim Legacy. There’s no all-wheel drive option and now, no more powerful engine to upgrade to.
The Malibu’s fuel-saving stop-start system is a bit herky-jerky, but can be easily turned off.
Style & Design: 7/10
Very familiar now, the Chevrolet Malibu’s shape dates way back to 2015, when it was introduced as a 2016 model. But the automaker was ahead of its time on exterior design trends, and its smooth fastback shape has aged very well. In part, that’s because certain other cars have followed the fastback trend, including the Sonata and K5 as well as the Volkswagen Arteon and smaller Hyundai Elantra and Tesla Model 3. Chevrolet last updated the Malibu’s face in 2019 and it hasn’t changed at all since, but it still works.
The inside was always less bold than the exterior, and the Malibu’s cabin looks a little dated even if the design is simple and clean. Materials quality is better than in older GM cars, particularly ones from the early 2000s, but cheap plastic is still in evidence. The cabin is a sea of gray or black, though the 2LT trim can be had with a nice two-tone brown scheme.
The Malibu’s fastback shape has aged well over the years, as competitors have launched similar designs, but it is quite a familiar look after eight model years. Alex Kwanten
