Concern McLaren Automotive for its anniversary has developed an interesting accessory — the Tag Heuer Carrera MP4-12C chronograph. It is worth mentioning that the project was carried out in cooperation with such a great Swiss manufactory as Tag Heuer. The McLaren MP4-12C inspired watchmakers to create this amazing creation. In the style of the watch, you can find a reflection of the design and color of the car. The basis of the dial was carbon. Initially, the masters of the concern used this material to make the frame of a sports car.

The dial has large hour indices. The peculiarity of the chronograph is that instead of the traditional number “12”, zero is set. The aperture is in the center. There are three anti-reflective orange hands. The watch is covered with sapphire crystal. Their heart is the Dubois-depraz 4900 movement. Financially, choosing the McLaren MP4-12C doesn’t seem like a reasonable option for a daily driver. According to Edmunds, it doesn’t offer particularly impressive fuel economy, with an average fuel consumption of about 18mpg — though that can vary greatly depending on driving style and traffic.
Maintenance on the MP4-12C isn’t as outrageous as some other vehicles, like just about any Bugatti, but it might still be an intimidating idea for some drivers new to the idea of daily driving an exotic car. If you’re more familiar with daily driving an exotic car, however, the McLaren MP4-12C is one of the most practical and comfortable options I’ve tried yet.
McLaren Museum
This «forge» contains unique examples of supercars, Formula 1 race cars and other cars from the sixties to the present day. The collection is replenished every year with new models. When the time comes to make the decision on whether or not you should get an MP4-12C, one thing will always be of concern: the price. Thankfully, these McLaren’s have become much more affordable over the past eight-years or so.
When the MP4-12C was fresh out of the factory (from 2011 to 2014), customers could expect an MSRP in the area of $229,000. Obviously, depending on the options the buyer selected, it could go far beyond that.
Today, the 12C is nowhere near that expensive. In fact, we’d wager that it’s one of the best deals on a used supercar out there. at one point — over half of the original costs gone.
As a big fan of McLaren, we’re absolutely thrilled about the recent changes in price. Depreciation can be great for those looking to buy, but not so much for those trying to make a profit. Just another example for why you should stay away from new cars, especially ones that don’t hold their value for long.

Due to McLaren’s past, car enthusiasts knew how skilled they were at making high-performance machines. However, up until then, they had only produced limited-run models; not something sold in the ten’s of thousands. As such, some doubted the small British company but were quickly put down upon release.
In 2011, the MP4-12C blew away the broader car community with its above-average performance figures. It had 592-bhp output, along with 443 lb-ft of torque. This resulted in a top speed of 205 MPH and a stunning 0 to 60 time of 3.3 seconds (on stock tires).
Car and Driver
Needless to say, the MP4-12C still had its fair share of detractors. A common complaint was usually centered around the car’s driving feel. As Jalopnik puts it, the 12C was seen by some as «a car without a soul.»
In reality, it wasn’t that the MP4-12C lacked a soul, but it was too technologically advanced. Those who weren’t ready for this could easily get the feeling that they had less power than they really did.

Though we ourselves have yet to drive a McLaren 12C, those who have unanimously agree with this assessment. Another Jalopnik review says, » are some of the most reliable, if not nearly daily-able cars you can get in this price range.»
Pit that against the Ferrari 458 and Lamborghini Aventador’s tendency to catch fire, and the winner is clear. Too bad they couldn’t keep the trend going with the newer Senna models.

Is the McLaren MP4-12C a good daily driver?
The McLaren MP4-12C was the first production vehicle completely manufactured by McLaren themselves, and they couldn’t have done a better job. Because they are older models, you can only find them in used condition, so the prices can range drastically from more attainable to more expensive. In heavily driven but still drivable condition, it isn’t impossible to find them for as low as $80,000, but you can also expect to see many between that price and much higher.
Like most supercars, the McLaren MP4-12C comes with the option to choose between several drive modes. In the standard comfort mode, the MP4-12C is smooth and comfortable, which makes sitting in traffic or longer trips enjoyable. Switching the controls over for full performance and you’ll be blown away by the driving experience.

McLaren is one of the oldest companies in producing top of the line race cars apart from Ferrari. With such a record, the company has been widely known and recognized for producing powerful engines and exceptional aerodynamics specially made to win races. Space and storage in the MP4-12C
One thing that I found particularly exciting about the McLaren MP4-12C was the amount of space the car has to offer, without appearing to be a large or spacious car. Next to the Lotus Evora, the MP4-12C didn’t appear to be an above-average-sized supercar but sitting down into either seat, you won’t feel cramped or claustrophobic.
Even more impressively, the McLaren MP4-12C is a genuine grocery getter. We were able to fit an entire shopping cart worth of groceries. This included a 40-pound bag of dog food and enough food for a small bbq. I anticipated a cramped drive home, but instead, all of the cart’s contents managed to fit comfortably and safely into the frunk.
While you obviously wouldn’t be making weekend runs to the local home renovation store and bringing home anything too large in the McLaren MP4-12C, there is still plenty of space for what most people do on an average day, even if you’re trying to fit in oversized gym bags and groceries.
The cost of maintaining and repairing a McLaren prevents most people from choosing them as a daily drive, but with MP4-12C coming down to a more reasonable price, it isn’t a completely outlandish option, and

As we alluded to in the introduction, McLaren wasn’t always the automotive superpower it is today. For most of their life, they remained in motorsports exclusively. McLaren’s most well-known for their rich Formula 1 history, accompanied by other fields like IndyCar, Can-Am, etc.
However, because of their racing prowess, McLaren garnered a lot of attention from carmakers around the world. At one point, they even formed off-shoot tuning partners that would shoulder some of this popularity, such as the ASC McLaren.
In 1992, the F1 was finally made. Unfortunately, it would take them seventeen-years before they started plans to make another road-car, the car in question was the MP4-12C.
New modifications of the MP4-12C lineup
More recently, the McLaren MP4-12C was released, and in 2012 its racing version, the GT3, was already demonstrated. For many years, the McLaren GT division has been developed. The car has been completely redesigned. The sports car received a new aerodynamic body kit, which included: a massive diffuser, front splitter, side air intakes and a rear wing. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the engine. The same turbocharged (V8) remained, its volume was the same 3.8 liters as in the previous model. Only the engine power was reduced by one hundred horsepower, and the speed — up to 7500 rpm.
